John MacLellan amassed four points as the Antigonish Bulldogs defeated the Port Hawkesbury Strait Pirates 5-3 Friday night in the Strait.
MacLellan potted a powerplay goal at 14:44 of the opening period. Guy Boudreau and Mike DeCoste drew assists on the marker.
The Dogs put the second marker on the scoreboard at 18:24 when Nick Allard one-timed a pass from MacLellan past Port Hawkesbury keeper Alex Drake. Mike MacGillivray also picked up an assist on the play.
Former Bulldog Brandon Mullins cut the deficit in half for the Pirates with a goal just 25 seconds into the middle frame.
Antigonish restored its two goal cushion late in the period when Boudreau beat Drake with a slapshot with Allard and MacLellan engineering the play.
Port Hawkesbury regrouped in the third and received goals from Johnny Carabin and Graham DeCoste to knot the score at three.
MacLellan scored his second of the game at the 4:20 mark and Jimmy MacInnis fired a powerplay goal at 16:14 to conclude the scoring in the contest.
Kyle Williamson turned in a strong effort between the pipes for Antigonish facing 40 shots.
The Bulldogs will resume action Friday night in Springhill against the Cumberland Blues and will be in Glace Bay Saturday to face the Miners.
